NOAA’s climate summary for April 2026 shows that across the Lower 48 states, the temperature was well above normal. Precipitation varied quite a bit across the country but in the Southeast, it was drier than normal everywhere except a small portion of Florida’s East Coast and northern Alabama. The warm and dry conditions contributed to a rapid increase in the amount and intensity of drought in our region.
