The latest Atlantic tropical outlook shows that Investigation 97 is currently present in the east-central Atlantic with a 60 percent chance of developing in the next two days and a 70% of developing in the next week. The models are all showing that is expected to shortly start curving to the north so it will not affect us in the US at all. The 2-day map shows the non-tropical remains of Jerry between 25 and 30 North and just east of longitude 60. You can barely see the coastal low near the Carolinas in the image but it is there causing heavy rain, windy conditions, and severe beach erosion along the coast. It will be moving to the NE and out of our region soon. The image also shows another tropical wave coming off Africa in the next few days, so that is something we will have to watch, although in October most of the African waves divert to the north and do not affect the US. But the season is not done yet so we keep watching.
