The latest Drought Monitor, released this past Thursday, shows the continued reduction in drought due to the rain in the last week. This has been especially noticeable in Florida, where most of the severe (D3) drought has now been removed. More improvements are likely due to the rain that is expected in the coming week. Only a small strip in northern Florida got worse this past week, and widespread improvements were seen in Virginia and the Carolinas as well as Florida and a small area of SW Georgia. There continues to be no dry conditions in Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands.
