The latest monthly and seasonal summaries for the US were released by NOAA earlier this week. August 2021 was the 14th warmest August on record, and the summer months of June through August came out just slightly ahead of 1936 for the warmest summer since 1895. They reported that over 18 percent of the US had record-setting warmth. August was the 14th wettest and summer the 8th wettest on record. You can read the monthly summary at https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/news/national-climate-202108. The Southeast was relatively mild compared to the western US, and I am not complaining.
