We are just a few days past the middle of April, and the maps for the month to date show that many parts of the Southeast are warmer and drier than normal, especially in southeastern Georgia and into South and North Carolina. Some areas have only received about five percent of their expected rainfall this month. The driest areas also tend to be those with warmer than normal conditions. Other areas like northern Florida and along the Gulf Coast have received much more rainfall, including a wide band that received over 200 percent of normal for the month so far. The wettest areas are also generally the coolest.
