Since we are halfway through the month, I thought we should take a look at the monthly statistics so far. For most of the region, the temperatures have been above normal. With the cold blast coming through early in the week, these will drop somewhat, but since it will start to warm up again after two really cold mornings, it may not end up affecting the monthly statistics that much.

Most of the region has also been quite a bit drier than normal in spite of some rain with the exception of parts of Georgia west of Atlanta and most of northern and western Alabama and some places in the Florida Peninsula. Conditions in the coastal plains are below 25% of normal in many places and below 5% of normal in some areas of southeastern Georgia and the Florida Panhandle. While we will see some rain with the next system coming through, the front will be moving fast and so any one spot probably won’t get much more than half an inch except right under a thunderstorm. After that it will be dry for the rest of the week.
