Earlier this week, NOAA released their latest monthly and seasonal summary for the United States for November and fall 2025. Across the United States, it was the 4th warmest November on record. However, here in the Southeast temperatures were much milder and were just above normal. A bigger story was the dry conditions across most of the eastern US, including many areas in the Southeast. This caused problems for farmers during the harvest season as crusty ground made it difficult to invert peanuts and pecans failed to fill out in their husks unless well irrigated. It was also difficult to establish winter forage and small grains due to the extremely dry conditions. But the dry conditions helped with cotton harvest, so not all producers were negatively affected.
