This time of year I get a lot of questions about how this year’s weather is affected by changes in the climate over time. Here is an interesting article from Time magazine that describes the kinds of changes we expect to see across the United States. Since I am from Western Michigan, I was interested to read that lake effect snow could increase because the lakes are becoming warmer, allowing more water vapor to evaporate into the air before it falls as snow on the land downwind of the lake. In the same way, the warmer Gulf and Atlantic Ocean will provide more moisture in the Southeast, although it may fall mostly as rain except when really cold air makes its way into the region. You can read the article for more impacts at https://time.com/7222241/how-are-our-winters-impacted-by-climate-change.
