Now that the big winter storm has passed, most of the region should see drier and quieter conditions for the next week, although it will still be colder than average for the rest of the month. Another Gulf low will bring rain to southern Alabama, western FL, and SW Georgia in the next few days. Dry and quiet weather will dominate mid-week, and then precipitation will start to increase again near the end of the week, although we are not expecting another big storm like the one that just passed us. The weather pattern looks like it will stay cold through the end of January but the long-range climate models are hinting at a big warm-up in February with a pattern shift away from our current cold high pressure.
