The latest Drought Monitor, released today, shows that rain from Francine helped improve drought conditions in the Florida Panhandle, SW Georgia, and a lot of Alabama. However, Francine’s rain petered out near the Fall Line and north of that, conditions got worse over scattered pockets of the region. Some of the rain from the Potential Tropical Cyclone 8, which was never named, is likely to show some improvements in the Carolinas on next week’s map. Meanwhile, a mostly hot and dry week in the Southeast through next Tuesday is like to show some more growth in the drought again in next week’s map.
