The latest monthly climate summary for the United States for April 2024 was released earlier this week. It shows that for the US as a whole, it was the 12th warmest April on record and the 5th warmest Jan-April period. Most of the warming occurred in northern parts of the country due to El Nino, and other parts, including the Southeast, were closer to normal. April was wet across a lot of the US but in the Southeast more areas were dry than wet after a very wet winter. The January-April period was a little wetter than normal in the Southeast but there were a few areas with drier than normal conditions.
