This week’s 7-day QPF shows that the heaviest precipitation this week should be in the Appalachian Mountains, especially mid-week. Some areas, especially at higher elevations, should see snow, while lower and more southern areas will see rain. Temperatures will start cool but will gradually warm up over this weekend as the next storm moves towards the area. Another storm will move through later in the week giving a second shot of precipitation. Week 2, starting with next weekend, look like it will be quite wet with several storms dropping some precipitation over parts of the region. Late in January is expected to be warmer than normal, so fruit farmers will be watching their plants carefully.
