The latest Drought Monitor, released this morning, shows a decrease in the dry conditions across most of the Southeast due to recent rains across the region, although because the rain has been so spotty, the map will necessarily miss some small areas of dry conditions that were missed by the rain. The conditions in Puerto Rico did not change this week. The worst area of drought is in far northwest Alabama where it is connected to the larger area of drought in the Southern Plains. I don’t expect many changes next week since we will have some rain, but it won’t be a lot in most places.
