The latest 7-day QPF map shows that once the lingering front moves out of North Carolina and Virginia tonight, strong high pressure should dominate the region for most of the next week. That means sunny skies and no chance of rain with lower humidity. It should be very nice for those of you who are not worried about water for your crops. After the current upper-level low that caused our spotty severe weather the past couple of days moves off the coast, it is expected to stall and spin off the coast for a few days, drifting south and eventually west close enough to bring rain back to eastern parts of the region by next weekend from east to west. People in western parts of the region may not see much from this blob of moisture. The 8-14 day forecast shows a continued likelihood of warmer than normal temperatures with just a slight edge towards wetter than normal conditions, but I think that is mainly based on the slow-moving storm that will drift north before it exits the area.
