Here are a couple of recent stories related to how rising sea level is affecting coastal communities, especially during storm surge events. Did you see the recent video showing the collapse of a building into the Atlantic during a recent nor’easter event? Jerry Markovich wrote an interesting story telling the history of that house (which was built 430 feet away from shore) and how sea level rise is making coastal cottages and communities more vulnerable to rising sea levels. WABE produced a story discussing the impacts of rising sea level, flooding, high winds and storm surges on Georgia residents following hurricanes Irma and Michael.
