Today NOAA released their monthly summary for the global climate for January 2022. It shows that this past January was the 6th warmest since global records began in 1880. The Southeast was relatively close to average compared to many other parts of the globe. It would have been much warmer except for the extensive band of cold water in the Eastern Pacific Ocean associated with the current La Nina.
