The latest Drought Monitor, released this morning, shows that drought and abnormally dry conditions were significantly reduced in Virginia and North Carolina and Puerto Rico due to recent rains. There were smaller reductions in Alabama and South Carolina. Areas of abnormally dry (D0) conditions expanded somewhat in coastal Georgia and northern Florida due to the lack of rain there. Since the rainfall pattern this week is similar to last week, I expect the trends we saw on this week’s map to continue on next week’s map.
