The lack of rain across the region along with the warm temperatures has led to an expansion in drought and dry conditions across all of the region except for the Florida Peninsula. Severe (D2) drought has reappeared in North Carolina and Virginia. Moderate (D1) drought has also significantly expanded across Puerto Rico. Conditions may continue to expand on next week’s map before the pattern shifts to bring more rain to the region by the middle of next week, after the DM map cutoff of data.
