The Southeast Farm Press published a story this week about the impacts of all the rain on cotton in North Carolina this year. North Carolina State University agronomist Guy Collins noted in the story that 2020 was the worst planting season he can remember, with almost continuously cool and wet weather during planting season, which caused a number of farmers to switch to beans. The hot and dry weather in July reduced yield potential and when cool weather returned in August and September, it kept the crop from getting badly needed heat units. You can read more here.
