Tropical Storm Eta is currently located just off the northwest corner of Cuba and is expected to make its way slowly north over the rest of this week. The current forecast shows that it is likely to make landfall somewhere between Apalachicola and Tampa, FL on Thursday night into Friday morning. Tropical storm force winds could start to affect the coast as early as Wednesday evening, but it will most likely be Thursday morning. The strongest winds are likely to be to the right of the storm track. After landfall Eta is currently forecast to drift north and weaken. By Saturday morning it could cross the border into Georgia near the Okefenokee Swamp. The slow movement of the storm and the flow of moisture into the area could bring flooding rains quite far to the north of the center, including NE Georgia and the Carolinas, in combination with a cold front moving to the east through the area.

The forecasts for Eta have changed quite a bit over the last day, and further changes should be expected. Watch the forecasts from the National Hurricane Center and your local National Weather Service office carefully to make sure that you are getting the latest information.
