The National Weather Service’s Southeast River Forecast Center posted a graphic this morning showing that of the 28 named storms in the Atlantic Basin this year, ten affected the Southeast. But only one of those, Sally, produced widespread river flooding, which is lower than some previous years. Of course, the season is not over yet, so we could still experience another storm that has severe impacts, but as the season slows down that becomes less likely. We are still watching Hurricane Eta, which is expected to hit Nicaragua soon. At least a few models are indicating that Eta could swing north into the Gulf of Mexico and potentially hit Florida, but that is a long time from now and not all models are showing this path, so we will just keep watching for now.
