The active Atlantic tropical season continued today with the addition of two new named storms, Paulette and Rene, in the eastern Atlantic. Fortunately for us in the US, both of these storms look like they will be turning north before they get close to us, so no impacts are expected from either storm. There is an area of potential development off the East Coast which will bear some watching, since it could impact the Carolinas, but it has only a low to moderate chance of development over the next five days, so for now we just need to watch it. The next wave is expected to move off the coast of Africa in the next day or two and also has a moderate chance of developing, but that is across the ocean so no need to worry about it at all at this point.
