As of Wednesday night, Sally has weakened to a depression and is slowly moving off to the northeast. It will continue to move through Georgia and the Carolinas on Thursday and Friday, dropping rain that could be as much as 10 inches in some places as it continues to move to the northeast at an increasing rate. Heavy rain and flash flooding continue to be the main problem with Sally, which dropped over 20 inches of precipitation at some locations near its landfall in Alabama almost exactly where Hurricane Ivan hit in 2004.

Meanwhile, the tropics continue to be active with Teddy now a hurricane and Vicky a tropical storm, a new wave off Africa expected to develop soon, and an area to watch in the Bay of Campeche. Which will become Wilfred?
