The latest 5-day outlook from the National Hurricane Center for the Atlantic shows several areas of interest, including two areas that have a high probability of tropical storm formation. One is off the East Coast of the US and is coming from a Gulf low that is passing over the Southeast and is expected to develop over the warm Gulf Stream water in the next few days. It has a 70 percent chance of becoming a named storm. Another region in the western Atlantic has an 80 percent chance of developing, but is expected to move straight west and should not affect the Southeast either. The next two names in this year’s list are Nana and Omar. There are two other areas to watch in the eastern Atlantic Ocean, but there are no immediate concerns from them.
