Due to the lack of rainfall and the warm conditions in the last week, patches of moderate (D1) drought appeared again in southeast Alabama, eastern Georgia, and a sliver of land along the Savannah River in South Carolina. Abnormally dry (D0) conditions also expanded. There were slight improvements in drought in both Virginia and Puerto Rico. Areas along the path of TS Isaias could see up to several inches, depending on the path of the storm, and those areas would be expected to improve, but other areas like Alabama are likely to see conditions deteriorate further from the lack of rain. Since the path of Isaias is still uncertain, it is not clear exactly where the most beneficial rain will fall, but it is likely to be concentrated near the East Coast, especially in Florida and Georgia.
