A new handbook on preparing for natural hazards like hurricanes is now available from UGA Marine Extension and Sea Grant. It is aimed at homeowners and other residents of Georgia and describes what natural hazards are likely to affect Georgia, especially in coastal areas, as well as steps they can take to prepare for and recover from hazardous weather events. I participated in the development of this guide along with many other UGA personnel and other experts. If you are interested in getting a copy, it will be available on https://gacoast.uga.edu/, although I don’t see it there yet. If you want one right away, let me know and I can email you a copy. Even if you are not in Georgia, most of the information should be widely applicable to most of the Southeast and might be useful to you.
