According to the latest Drought Monitor, released this morning, a small area of moderate (D1) drought has been introduced to southern Charlton County in Georgia. Drought has also expanded in Florida and Alabama. Over 83 percent of Florida is now in drought, and the area of severe (D2) drought has also expanded there. Because of rain expected in the next week, it would not surprise me to see some reduction in next week’s drought status across a lot of the region other than southern Florida, which will be mostly missed by the storms coming this week.
