Often people who talk to me about climate change mention the Little Ice Age, which occurred in the 1500s through 1800s and is associated with a lack of sunspots on the Sun. Many people think that the Little Ice Age was a period of cold around the globe, but recent research has shown that while it was cold in Europe and what is now the United States, not all of the globe was cold during that time. Unlike these earlier climate anomalies, climate change is generally warming things up across the globe other than a cold anomaly off of Greenland most likely associated with melting ice.
