The latest 7 day QPF map shows that most areas of the Southeast will get about an inch of rain this week, with higher amounts in northern Alabama and the mountainous regions and off the coast, and lighter amounts in southern Florida and along the North Carolina and Virginia coasts. The first rain even will be over the weekend with a cold front moving into the area. Mid-week we will see dry and cold conditions, then another system moves in by Thursday night and brings a second round of rain to the area. With the colder air in place, it would not surprise me if there were some snow in higher elevations but I have not looked closely at the forecast so listen to your National Weather Service for the most accurate short-term outlooks.
