Moderate drought expands in Georgia

This last week has been fairly dry for most of the Southeast. Most states maintained their drought status from last week, but in Georgia, the areas of moderate drought expanded due to warm temperatures and lack of precipitation. Unfortunately, while northern Georgia and other parts of the Southeast will see quite a bit of rain this week, the southern part of the state will be largely bypassed by the rainy conditions, which could lead to further expansion on next week’s map.
