Now that the government shut down is over (at least for the moment), government agencies like NOAA are catching up on their regular work. This Wednesday they will be releasing the latest global climate summary for 2018, a few weeks later than usual. Early indications from info that I have seen online from the Japan Meteorological Agency indicate that this will probably be about the fourth warmest year on record for the globe, after the three previous years. They will be having a media conference call on Wednesday afternoon to discuss their results. You can read more at https://www.noaa.gov/media-release/noaa-nasa-to-announce-2018-global-temperature-climate-conditions. I won’t be attending since I am giving a talk to peanut growers that afternoon but there will be a lot of news stories on it, I’m sure.
