The US Forest Service published a blog post that detailed all of the damage to forests and foresters in Florida after the passage of Hurricane Michael back in October. One of the most interesting quotes in the blog said “It would take 2.4 million logging trucks to remove all of the dead trees that we have in Florida as a result of this hurricane,” according to Florida Forest Service(link is external) State Forester/Director Jim Karels.

Not only was a lot of timber destroyed, but the lack of good trees will hurt mills in the area as many of the downed trees that are salvaged will not be able to be processed by the mills.
