There has been quite a change in the atmospheric pattern across the US from the beginning of October to now. If you look at the last 7 days of temperatures, you can see much above normal temperatures out west with below normal temperatures in the east (except for Florida). But if you look at the pattern for the month to date, the pattern is almost opposite, with above normal temperatures in the east while cooler than normal temperatures dominate the west. That just shows how strong the cool West-warm East pattern was early in the month, with temperatures in the Southeast much warmer than normal. The next few days until the end of the month is unlikely to change that much.
