NOAA’s latest climate summary for the US was released this week. It shows that the June through August temperatures for the 48 contiguous US states, was tied for the fourth warmest since records began in 1895. The temperatures were especially hot out west, where things have been broiling most of the summer. August 2018 was the 17th hottest on record. Note that the Southeast was quite moderate this summer compared to other parts of the country, particularly the Southwest and Northeast.
