With all the rain we’ve had in the Southeast, you may have missed the tremendous floods that were occurring in Wisconsin this summer. Dairy farmers there are suffering from the impacts of all that flooding, including contaminated or moldy feed. The State of Wisconsin issued a warning to their farmers about keeping an eye out for these problems before they affect their livestock. With all of the rain in the Southeast from Hurricane Florence, this is timely advice for us here too. You can read the story at Dairy Herd Management and find a link to the US Food and Drug Administration guidelines for how to harvest and test for harmful chemicals and pathogens here.
