The latest Drought Monitor shows that drought across the region was reduced. Severe drought is now completely gone from South Carolina and reduced in Georgia and Florida. Rain amounts in the next week are expected to be relatively light, so no big changes are expected to next week’s map. The most likely beneficiary of rain is the Florida peninsula, where heavier rain there could improve the remnants of the severe drought in that region.
