The maps for the temperature and precipitation departures from normal for the month of May so far show that for most parts of the Southeast, temperatures are above normal and precipitation is below normal. Temperatures should stay above normal for most of the next month, so May is likely to end up above normal in temperature. Rainfall so far has been below normal in most areas, but we expect a rainier second half of May so some of those deficits may be reduced.
