I was surprised to learn today that avocado trees fruit much more heavily on alternate years. Last year was a “down” year and supplies were low. This year is an “up” year, which means that they should be easier to find and probably cheaper, too. The Packer noted that supplies from California, Mexico and Peru are all very high, which should lead to record high yields for 2018. You can read about that here.

In a separate story, The Packer noted that a few growers in California have been hurt by the wildfires which moved through California in the last few months, which has slightly reduced the yield in some areas. You can read this story here.
