With just a couple of days to go until the end of the winter season, it’s pretty clear that in spite of some very cold weather, the warm conditions in early December and in most of February are going to result in warmer and drier conditions for the winter, just as we expected with La Niña near its peak.  Tomorrow I will post the stats for February, but I expect to blown away with February temperatures averaging about ten degrees above normal for the month, enough to rank first at nearly every station in the region. These maps are from the Southeast Regional Climate Center Perspectives tool at https://www.sercc.com/perspectives using the forecast values through the end of the month to fill out the season.
