The latest climate outlook for February and for February through April was released by NOAA earlier this week. It shows that the most likely conditions are for warmer and drier conditions to cover much of the Southeast, especially in Florida and the southern parts of Alabama and Georgia. Areas to the north of that could see more rain or even some snow. Of course, this year’s weak La Niña will probably have less influence overall on our climate than some of the stronger ones that have occurred in the past, and also, keep in mind that these are statistical forecasts so any one year can beat the statistical odds. In addition, even warmer and drier years than normal can have short periods of intense cold and wet conditions. We’ll see what the rest of the season brings.
