Impacts from Hurricane Irma continue to affect the citrus crop in Florida. The Packer reported this week that the latest estimate of yield from this year’s citrus crop is down 8% from the November estimate.  This is attributed to continuing losses from damaged citrus trees that were affected by wind and standing water from Hurricane Irma, which hit Florida in September. You can read more information on damage by crop here.

Citrus groves in Florida remained under flood waters Sept. 13 after Hurricane Irma. “It’s still too early to know the full extent of the damage to Florida citrus,” Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Adam Putnam said in a Sept. 13 news release.
