The Washington Post published a story this week describing the loss of unripe citrus fruit from trees due to Hurricane Irma’s high winds (they suggest as much as 70% loss) and how it would affect orange juice sales in the future.  The story noted that the production of oranges in Florida has decreased in recent years due to citrus greening and that previous hurricanes also had a negative effect due to higher prices on orange juice produced from the oranges that survived those hurricanes’ winds. The story ends by saying that a reduction in the use of orange juice might make nutritionists happy if people end up drinking more water and milk, but it certainly would be a blow to citrus producers who were hammered by the storm.  You can read the full story here.
