The preliminary climate summary for the Southeast from the High Plains Regional Climate Center shows that for most areas of the Southeast, June was wetter and cooler than normal. This is the first time since January 2016 that many areas have had monthly temperature departures that were below normal. The cooler temperatures were due in part to the abundant rainfall that covered much of the Southeast, bringing more clouds and evaporation to the region.
