WeatherNation has a good discussion this week about how the warmer than normal Atlantic Ocean temperatures have helped lead to an active start to the Atlantic tropical season this year.  Warm ocean temperatures are one of the key ingredients to the development of these storms, although other factors like an active subtropical jet can hinder the development of a full circulation. With a neutral pattern this year, a strong jet is less likely, which means that we are highly likely to see more action as we approach the heart of the tropical season.  Stay tuned!
