Weather Underground had an interesting analysis of how many record highs and record lows have been recorded at a number of stations across the United States since 2010.  The work shows that five times as many record highs have been broken as compared to new record lows.  This is not surprising because of the upward trend in temperatures since the 1970’s, which means that over time, you would expect the number of highs to creep upwards and the number of lows to become less frequent, but it is still interesting to see how they did the comparison.  Most of the station records were also from cities where urban heat islands are also most likely contributing.  The article is at https://www.wunderground.com/cat6/us-daily-record-highs-outnumber-lows-5-1-2010?__prclt=lmMfhqJ9.
