With November 2/3 over, a significant part of the Southeast has had zero rain for the month.  When combined with the above normal temperatures in areas that did not get moisture from Hurricane Matthew, it’s no wonder the drought conditions have been expanding across the region.  This on top of the very dry conditions in October, September, and August in some areas, all along with the warm temperatures.

Just to blow your mind, one of the CoCoRaHS observers in Rockdale County, southwest of Athens and southeast of Atlanta, reported that since May 1, he has had a total of 4.41 inches of rain.  This is an area that usually gets at least 4 inches per MONTH.  This is California-level dry, and one of the reasons I think the Drought Monitor may be underrepresenting how bad the drought is in our area.
