If you are a CoCoRaHS precipitation observer, thank you!  Here is a message from the CoCoRaHS headquarters about your end of the water year summaries and how to get your Certificate of Appreciation.  If you are not yet an observer, won’t you consider joining?  I admit it’s a little frustrating to enter a “0” every day during the drought, but once the rain returns, you will enjoy seeing how much you get every morning.  And your observations provide a valuable source of information to the National Weather Service and the Drought Monitor authors, too.  You can check it out at https://www.cocorahs.org. or contact me for more information.

CoCoRaHS ”2016 Water Year Summary Reports and Graphs” are now available for every CoCoRaHS observer who submitted measurements during the 2016 Water Year (October 1, 2015 – September 30, 2016). They are also available for 2010-2015. With help from the PRISM Climate Group at Oregon State University we also provide monthly estimates for your “normal” (30-year 1981-2010 average) precipitation. We can all see if our monthly and water year totals were wetter or drier than average.

This year we are happy to present ”Certificates of Appreciation” to all of our volunteer observers who submitted an observation during the 2016 Water Year. To download your customized certificate (suitable for framing): 1) click on “My Account” at the top of the CoCoRaHS main webpage (www.cocorahs.org) and then 2) Under 2016 Water Year, click on the word “Certificate” to open your certificate. That’s all that is to it.
