The Climate Prediction Center issued their monthly outlook for September this week.  It shows above normal temperatures are likely for the entire region in the coming month.  Dry conditions are expected in northern Alabama and northwest Georgia but wet conditions are expected along the coast.  No doubt the fact that this forecast was issued on August 31 when Hermine was bearing down on the Southeast had something to do with this forecast!  The result of the rain from the tropical system is that the drought in Florida and southern Georgia  which had been expanding in recent weeks should be eliminated in the next few weeks, if not in the next Drought Monitor.
