The Packer reported this week that Louisiana sweet potato growers are waiting to find out how much damage the recent flooding rains has caused to their crops. The unprecedented floods have made it impossible for them to even get into the fields to determine how severe the damage is. And unfortunately the rain keeps on coming. Another low pressure center developing near the coast of Texas is expected to bring more rain to the region. Even after it stops raining, it may be several days before crews can enter the fields, according to the story. Volumes there were running ahead of schedule before the harvest shut down.
