The latest monthly climate summary for the US from NOAA was published late last week.  It shows that the average temperature for April for the contiguous US was the 18th warmest on record, while Alaska continued to see record warmth.  April was warm enough that the January-April average temperature for the lower 48 was the second warmest on record.  You can read the details at https://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/sotc/summary-info/national/201604.
